Bored of eating the same baked beans time and time again? Spice things up with flavorful add-ins to create the perfect zesty pairing for your next summer barbecue.
You will need:
8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 (28 ounce) can pork and beans, undrained
1 (15 1/2 ounce) can chili beans, undrained
3⁄4 cup finely chopped onion
1⁄2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 (8 ounce) can mild red enchilada sauce
1 tablespoon flour
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1⁄8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Yields 10 servings.
Preheat your oven to 475 degrees Fahrenheit.
Gently mix all the ingredients (except cheese) in a large mixing bowl. Pour the bean mixture into a greased casserole dish. Bake uncovered for 15 minutes. Reduce the heat to 375 degrees and bake for an additional 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle cheese over the top of the dish, and bake for a final 15 minutes.
