With summer underway, it’s time for a refreshing drink! The season brings a new wave of inspiration, experimentation and a whole lot of fun beverages. We wanted to share some of our favorite summer-inspired cocktails that you must give a try in these warmer months!
Seasonal Fruit Cocktails
Seasonal changes mean that a variety of fruits and vegetables are at peak. More and more, local produce has made its way into the beverage scene, which is great for local farmers around the area. This new utilization of produce calls for experimentation and inspiration in cocktails during the summer season. Fresh herbs such as basil and mint can top off any seasonal beverage, giving it a natural, herbal twist. Add seasonal berries such as strawberries, cherries or melons to champagnes, vodka sodas or even spiked lemonades to add a sweet, fruity punch.
Cool Spritzers
If you love a cool, refreshing drink, spritzers are for you! These have been a huge trend in the past year due to their sweet taste and low-calorie count. This drink can be infused with a variety of berries to bring in a subtle sweetness. A spritzer is made with either white wine and sparkling water or carbonated water. This cool drink will be a no-brainer for the long-lasting Tennessee heat!
Gin Infused
Gin is the perfect base for a bright cocktail. This light and refreshing liquor is easily paired with an eclectic assortment of flavored liqueurs and fruits. Try creating a Cucumber Collins with your favorite gin, muddle fresh cucumber, lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake with ice, top with soda and finish it off with a cucumber wheel as a garnish.
Summer Sangria
Sangria is the perfect drink to help you any of the season’s flavors. Traditional sangria combines red wine, chopped fruit and a touch of brandy for a sweet drink. However, the cocktail can be customized to fit the drinker’s preference. Sangria is able to be made with white or rose wine. Also, if brandy isn’t part of your taste, vodka or rum can be used to give it different bite.
Mimosas with a Twist
We’re taking this insanely popular brunch drink and giving it a makeover. A mimosa is usually made with champagne and orange juice but can be made with any fruit juice available. At your event, offer a mimosa bar with an array of juices and garnishes, so your guests are able to make and customize their own whenever they please.
