It’s football time in Tennessee! With the preseason in full effect, we know you are gearing up for a fun fall season filled with weekends dedicated to your favorite sports teams. With high school ball on Friday nights, college showdowns on Saturdays and the NFL on Sunday, we know you’ll be busy rooting them on. It can be difficult planning a fall tailgate to get everyone pumped up for the big game. With the help of All Occasion Catering, we have broken down the most important considerations to take into account when preparing for your big football tailgate.
Location
The location of your tailgate is the first thing to consider before planning the rest of the event. Do you have tickets to the game, or are you watching the match from your couch? Whether you are in the parking lot or at home, All Occasion Catering has you covered. Let us cater your event, so you can spend more time getting pumped up for the game.
We recommend going big, like with our City Slicker Grill menu, if you are hosting your tailgate from home. An at-home tailgate means easy setup and take down in the comfort of your own home. This allows you to go all out with the food. The menu features slow-roasted beef brisket, grilled sausages and fruit cobbler for dessert. A tailgate at the sporting center can provide more challenge. We recommend our convenient boxed lunches, which can be taken anywhere on the go. Either way, we know you guests will have all the fuel they need to cheer on the team!
Food
At AOC, we believe that food is the most important factor no matter the event! The time of day and type of event you are having are factors to consider and will affect the menu. Let us provide catering and bar services for your tailgate. All of our menus can be customized to your specific tastes and preferences.
If the game is early in the day, then consider our breakfast menus to start the day out right. We offer fresh pastries and fruit through our Continental Breakfast and something more traditional with our Full Breakfast. Looking for the classic, tailgate fare? Our Tennessee Grill menu features the favorite hamburgers and hot dogs that are crowd-pleasing to any event.
Games
Tailgates are all fun and games, until you are the one getting stuck behind the grill. However, when you let AOC take care of the catering, you can spend more time mingling and entertaining your guests. Cornhole is a classic tailgate game that involves tossing beanbags through wooden platforms. Play with pairs or get the whole tailgate involved by playing with teams. Want to pretend like you’ll be the one throwing touchdowns in the big game? Bring a football or frisbee to show your friends who is going to carry the team to victory.
Supplies
There are a lot of supplies needed to throw a successful tailgate. At the very least, you will need a pop-up tent for shade, a cooler to keep the drinks cold and chairs to let your guests relax. If you decide to provide food at the tailgate, the supplies list grows! A grill, plates, a table, silverware, paper towels, trash bags plus lots more can be needed.
If you don’t have all those supplies, then you may want to consider catering your event. All of our menus are customizable and will please any guest, but we think our Southern Shrimp Boil menu will provide a fun and casual feel to the tailgate. The shrimp boil includes a pot of the South’s finest Gulf shrimp, plus Andouille sausage, new red potatoes and corn on the cob all mixed with our special Cajun seasoning. Add BBQ chicken, Cajun rice and homemade banana pudding for dessert to make sure your tailgate takes home the “W.”
